Women say they dont want to have anything to do with a guy that is unemployed.....
But, what if a guy goes back to school full-time in his say.... mid to late 20's. Is that just as bad as being an unemployed, broke bum???

No. At least you're doing something. In fact, more people seem to be going back to school to ride out the recession, so it's understandable.

I agree. Any woman that wouldn't understand that wouldn't be worth having IMO.

i am unemployed... being unemployed doesn't mean a broke bum, i graduted from college in December and since i've been doing things i wanted to do before i start the real life like go to new york to go see the Cardinals play the Mets, going to Chicago next weekend for Cardinals vs Cubs......Went to Europe in March for a month...put some serious thought on going to see the US soccer team in South Africa. I got a job lined up that starts at end of August, until then i going to do as much as possible...I got a find a way to end up in South America for atleast 2 weeks or so..

I think there is nothing wrong with going back to school. One day, you will be making your own way.

Returning to school for a graduate degree would be no big deal. At least he is working towards something and not necessarily mooching off others.

surely it depends on the reason for unemployment, doesn't it?
What about these scenarios:
a - guy drops out of high school, and cannot get jobs due to lacking a high school diploma
b - guy finish grad school, and is unemployed for 6-12 months looking for a job
c - guy has worked in a good job for a number of years, but falls out of love with his job, and is taking time out to look for another one
I'm not a woman, but nonetheless i would deem guy a as the bum here.

Things have changed a lot in the past 40 years. Now days, women comprise almost 2/3 of those in college, so finding a guy with an education is becoming increasingly difficult. Therefore, their stock is going up.
At one time, the sex ratios on campus were reversed and few women wanted to wait. Only those guys who were in the really marketable disciplines had much luck with this angle on campus. Generally, the rest needed to graduate and get a good job to have any luck.
In neither era, is being 28 and studying for your GED going to cut you much slack.

Being unemployed and going back to school is fine. Being unemployed and not wanting to ever be employed is a different story!

Interesting because I happen to know a guy in his 30's who is unemployed and seems to have no problem finding females to support his brok a$$. Gotta love the pool of women with low expectations on the internet. And no he isn't in school, didn't just get out of school, and doesn't have plans for school. He is a man of a thousand excuses why he can't do (fill in the blank) but the girls will take care of him.
I'm married but at my age if I were single I wouldn't give a second thought to a guy like that.
No car, no job, no future. No thanks...
