In some states...I believe South Carolina is one...it is against the law to cohabitate. How frequently it is enforced is another matter, but there have been cases where this law has been enforced.
Of course not, but the question stated wives which involves legal civil unions. I think that is where the problem comes in. For many people if they are going to invest in a long term committed relationship they want to protect their future welfare and the welfare of any children from that union. Without marriage there is no legal recourse.
TKramar is right. My state had an illegal cohabitation law. I dont know if it is still in effect.
Women that stay with men who are in multiple relationships just because they feel like they are treated like a queen doesn't make any sense to me. It seems to me that they don't have very much respect for themselves. But everyone is going to make there own choices wrong or right.

This is why Republicans are a schizo political party. One side supports all these laws while the other rails against government intervention. Morons one and all.
I’m going to use sports stars for example, I don’t think people understand how many are either swingers or have multiple mistresses…Recently Roger Clemens lifestyle was brought out and now Steve McNair…A very common scenario is when a sports star goes out to eat and meets a waitress or goes to club and meets a girl who went out for a fun time. These girls may be recently college grads. Here are their options; meet another single recent grad. Hope that their $30K/year entry level job. Or get a guy who’s famous, even if you have to share, I think the majority of women (51%+) would choose that life over a regular life.
I really dont think you can compare sports stars and celebrities to the general populace. Some women fawn all over "stars" for the excitement, money and notoriety and may believe the guy will leave his wife for them. I dont believe they are wanting to share long term, looked what happened with Steve McNair. I certainly dont believe 51% of women would choose chasing celebs for crumbs, especially college graduates with future careers.

Seems that way to me, too.
