I've met some very interesting people recently who happen to be single. One of them is a man in his early 40s who lives in a remote area doing some interesting work. I've met others, all so joyful, kind and at peace with themselves. It is very refreshing to meet people, especially men, who are so self-sufficient and content. My closest friend is a confirmed bachelor as well and while he has some girls over at times, he doesn't feel the need to hunt and chase. This is at odds with people who can't stand being single, but single is our natural state - we come into the world alone and leave that way. We may be social creatures to varying degrees but nature did not create this idea of marriage.

I'm just so glad to know some really cool people who choose to live free and uncompromising lives while turning the idea of single = selfish upside down.

Default it would be nice

if my landlord read this thread. i know my landlord's wife has something against me because i'm in my 40's and not married(but her husband seems cool). i'm told their culture frowns on people past a certain age who are not married

Thanks! I'm a very happy and very single 39 year old lady. I've not dated in about 10 years and that is only because I've not ever met anyone I've wanted to date.

I'm single now by choice as well. It seems the best accomplishments in my life and most productive times have been when I'm single. Probably says a lot about my focus while in a relationship, but ahhhh well.....I'll take single for now. Cheers!
