I'm from Alabama and I'm really shy and get tongue tied alot so my friends pick on me sometimes, but they always say they think it's adorable, especially my northern guy friends. So I was just curious does a southern accent turn you off, or do you think it's cute? Also my accent isn't like out in the woods country, not saying that's bad though I love good country accent

There were some comments in another thread about women liking accents. I'm sure there are many guys that feel the same way about women with accents.

There are so many different accents here in the South.

I'm not a fan at all of the really country and "redneck" accents, but I love the soft Southern one.

Ironically, I have no accent really, even my buddies from up North admit it.

But I'm an effing sucker for Australian girls. Their accents make me go weak in the knees.

I'm quite fond of Irish gals, too. Scots, too. I like most, but not all of the accents in England.

I am not from Alabama but live in the deep south and no matter where I go, people reconize where I live from my accent. I had one guy that would start a conversation with me and constantly say "HUH?" to get me to repete what I said over and over.. I finally asked him if he were heard of hearing and he said "No! I just LOVE your accent!"..

I think a southern accent is usually charming when spoken by a woman(unless it's really harsh). It can be pleasing for men as well, but it might sound a little more grating. Something about a man with too soft of an accent just sounds wrong to my ear. For northern accents, it's often the opposite. A man with a Boston accent can sound cool ... women with Boston accents (or, worse .. Jersey accents)? Not so much. That's just my tastes though.
