OK so I've been on here several times, asked for relationship advice yadda yadda...but there's been this monkey on my back for a few days now & I just gotta ask myself: why am I still single? I mean, I'm going into my Sr. year of college (I'm studying English & Elementary Ed) I'm not picky @ all (I've dated all types of guys from black to white to Guatemalan, music majors, grad students, etc. but that's just it...it's just been casual dating...I mean is it my personality? I'm not ghetto or fat @ all, if anything I've always been the "token black chick" at my university & esp. in my majors...I'm softspoken, shy @ 1st but very friendly, not bossy @ all...I'm a student worker @ a freakin library....
If it sounds like I'm complaining or desperate, please don't think I am ...It's not like I don't meet guys...I do, pretty frequently...I mean, my friends & I went salsa dancing on Saturday night & I met this engineer who wouldn't leave me alone (he was 30 btw which was a bit of a surprise lol!)
I love to dance & go out every now & then (not a huge partier by any means), I just turned 21 2 weeks ago...but I mean...is there some sort of stop sign that is keeping guys from turning me into the "girlfriend"? I mean, what it is it? I don't try too hard either, I mean I'm not one of those flashy girls w/ all the latest designer clothes, purses, & shoes...I worked with kindergarteners & 1st graders all June & was on my hands & knees doing arts & crafts w/ them...
Don't worry... be happy!
Seriously, think about all that you've said, and then think about the men who are around your age.
From all I've seen, people don't really grow up and mature until they are 25 or so.. There are exceptions, obviously, but teen and college age people seem to be more into casual dating - nothing ever serious.
I think, if I read all of this right, that you are a very intelligent lady who's somewhat reserved, but still full of confidence. You're more of a "classy" lady, and I think that others see that in you as well.
Personally, I don't think you have a problem at all. After all is said and done, you'll end up with a guy that's far far above average, and you'll be thankful that you lived your life as you have.
For now, just enjoy life.. Go out on dates, meet guys, whatever... but the big thing is this: Just be yourself. If someone doesn't want to call you "girlfriend", well, they just aren't worthy of you to begin with.
So this weekend I met a gentleman at a salsa club two Saturdays ago...I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but he's an engineer & a little older than me...anyways, I was in OKC & he will be in Tulsa this week & was possibly thinking about coming to see me...
I'm kind of interested in him, but I'm not too sure yet..
Good Luck...Engineers can fix stuff, and provide a reasonably good income
its easier to get a bank loan if you can prove you don't need one and
Its easier to find a job if you already have one,
So that means its easier to get into a relationship if you can prove you don't need one or people think you are aready in one.
Pfft, beats me. Maybe you're too nice? That's what my problem is sometimes, well that, and the fact that I'm not conventionally attractive. You sound like you'll be fine. Just be patient.
Too many replies to read, but maybe you think about it too much. You might give off that vibe...you know. eek.
Then again there are times that I have dry spells, too. I'll go months without getting even a second look, then all the sudden I have to beat them off with a stick to have room to breathe. Just give it time. They will come.
