Sounds like an adventure.

I mean, seriously. What woman is going to want to date a man after hearing that hard luck story?

I feel bad for him, but why would I want to date a man his age who is living at home?
Why not? He did not live with his parents for 44 years. He had to move in again because of bad luck. That's a huge difference.

Should broke and unemployed men date? Sure but they'll have to rely on luck to score a nice attractive girl who doesn't mind paying for his expenses, taking initiative, picking him up, and so on. To find a woman like that is a challenge.

It would be like asking if a fat over the hill woman should be dating. Of course she could but it would be a challenge to find a guy who doesn't care at all about her being fat and over the hill.

Some of the biggest players out there are broke, unemployed men who live with their mum.

flip the script and ask if it's okay for a woman in the same situation to date. The fact that nobody would even ask that question in her case proof enough of the double standard. Women get a pass on all kinds of stuff though. Nothing new here.

It's not a double standard.

Men and women place different priorities on different things and they have different wants.

If a man doesn't care that a woman is unemployed and broke, that's his problem. Turn your beef to the other men who aren't bothered by dating a woman with no income.

This thread is crap to be quite blunt and the fact that it was resurrected so it can get to 100 pages is crap. In dating the word should has nothing to do with anything. There is what is and what isn't and the reality is that yes there are broke and unemployed men who date. Even as we debate this there are broke and unemployed men dating some women right now. So please "should", doesn't matter, what matters is what is.

I would date him as long as he showed drive to do something to improve his situation. I have my own money. I don't need a man to support me. However, I will not support him either and I wouldn't move in together or get married or anything if he was still unemployed.
