It's tempting to fall into the use of pet names. But I like to hear MY name being used. You can call anybody "baby" or "darling". Very generic. Who knows how many other people have had that name bestowed upon them by your s.o? But there's only one of me.
I didn't notice it for awhile, then one day he used my real name and we realized we hadn't been referring to one another thus for a bit. It actually kind of turns us on to hear our names said during romantic moments. Does that make us freaks?

No one calls my husband by his first name--he goes by his middle name--but I, most of the time, call him something completely different--a nickname that is due to our last name (and a dead President's nickname too) that was coined for him in high school.

I have always called her by her name--unless she went by another name. In fact, I goofed and called one by her first name when she ordinarily goes by her middle name. She gave me a dirty look--but I said, "Well, that IS your name--just not the one you go by!"

We call one another by our names, by silly nicknames (yes, I am Julie Bear) and by a bunch of typical and typical terms of endearmeant (babe, baby head, honey, snugglebritches, and so on). When he's in trouble, he gets the first and last name.

I have never called her by her real name. Her name is Cindy but she has this lovely red hair which reminds me of that Neil Young song Cinnamon Girl so I’ve been calling her Cinny for the past eighteen years.

I always call my Fiance by his name and he calls me by mine unless we are making fun of each other or being sarcastic .

I have never really got into the nickname thing, we don't even call each other "darling" or "swetheart". I love his name , in fact it really irritates me when people abbreviate it.

I think it would just feel false to us.

Me too

I usually call him Pookie. He calls me Sugar. We use our 'real' names often though, his full name is one syllable and mine is shortened to one. It's easy
