Best bet, stop looking to get family approval. Your family is you, hubby and kids. The rest are extras. If they don't want to come, why get pissy about it? You tried. Sometimes people can't be bothered. Maybe it's too noisy, they want to relax in quiet or just don't want to socialize.

Did they at least call you to let you know they would not be attending? Did the MIL call to thank you for the food/fresh veggies?

I shouldn`t get my feelings hurt like that with his family. Shoot, I know how they are by now.

My thing is, why catch feelings if you reach out to family and they're not interested? So they're not interested, big deal. The way I see it is that it's their loss. I'm saying from experience, I tried reaching out to some of my family on my mom's side but since they don't want to reciprocate, I keep it moving. They don't stand out to me in some way so I don't see a reason to be bothered over it.
