If you're not attracted to the person and that person isn't attracted to you, yes, it can happen. Especially if one is single and one is not, or both are married or committed, etc.

Now, if either one of them is attracted to the other in any way--no chance. It'll come up sooner or later.

Most of my friends are men, my best friend is my husband. I love sports and, sadly, there are still way too many women who don't. Therefore I hang out with my sports loving friends, who just happen to be male. And no, it would never occur to any of us to take it further, even if I weren't happily married.
