I can't stand the word cougar, personally. Also, I hear it said of women just a few years older than the man. Like five years....seriously? LOL!
It is an annoying term. I don't high five any of my girlfriends or see them screaming happily for anyone to hear that they buy drinks for 20-year-olds and bag them. But cougar is kind of like Yankee Doodle. The British made up the Yankee Doodle song to mock the Colonists and make them feel inferior during the American Revolution, but the Colonists turned it around on them, embraced it and we know the rest of that story.
Cougar is similar. It was meant to single out these women because you know...we just can't have that...let's sarcastically call them wildcats with the background of how actual cougars stalk and devour their prey, they at just base animals who lie in wait and then grab. But some women have embraced that. And now in a way it ie celebrated. Oh well.
What to do, what to do...okay, now we'll have a menopause cutoff to PROVE these women shouldn't want sex with cute men, and call it yet another name. Yay.
Read the way the OP was stated 9 years ago, same ish, different...year. People still panicking like hell that woman over the age of 30 like great sex. The level of fear over this very simple thing, sex and older women, is staggering. I wonder what the psychology is behind that.
I say, let women enjoy sex without freaking out, categorizing it by age, and trying to slap labels on it in order to control it. 'Cause you can't. If an older chick and you her guy wanna bang, they will. And if we try to put names on it they'll embrace it because what the hell, in for a penny, in for a pound.
I see women giving high fives and calling each other Cougars in a complimentary way for dating younger men. But I really want to know at what age does the "Cougar" who desires/dates younger men become a "Coyote"? 45? 50? 55?
A "Coyote" is a woman who just flat out too old to even try to date young men. This is the point where it gets almost ridiculous for them to be seen in public. Switch around the Anna Nicole Smith and her late husband. Wouldnt it be just flat out creepy if a 80-90 year old woman was married or dating a 20 something year old man?
My limit is 45. I don't go beyond.
The reason.. Menopause.. even peri-Menopause. No fun when you have to depend on lubrication lol

Probably a similar physiological reason for these older women: no fun when you have to depend on Cialis.
There are exceptions, just as there are exceptions to menopause and dryness, but I don't think we're speaking of people as wholes unique individuals here, you know? So I'll bet that's the motivating factor.

Men can reproduce into ripe old age, and if Cialis is needed it gets the job done.
Women after about 45 are over their reproductive phase. The majority can no longer have children or if they do there is a significantly increased risk of birth defects. The same is not the case for men.
So there is a lot of reasons why the transition occurs at 45. After that, they are beyond the "cougar" stage.
