I mean, I like them when they are grown and can fend for themselves and have a life beyond me. Cats and dogs do in fact have an emotional life that includes other animals of their own species and even some of a different species. They are not ignorant. We are ignorant. Ignorant enough to not understand them and see they are living creatures with a full scope on life. I have had enough dogs , cats, and other, to know that they are fully capable of love. I know this because not all my cats have loved me, only the ones I have shown attention to and lots and lots of love. The difference has been enormous.
So when a person says animals cannot love or feel or think, they are only saying the animal cannot love "them". And theres probably a good reason for that.
And as far as feeding my cats/dogs versus feeding another human being, I would feed both if I had the money. But I just turned a little bit Republican (still Democrat though), thanks to this joke: http://www.city-data.com/forum/10588859-post571.html, and I would expect the human being to get a job. Animals cannot do that. Besides, animals are more loveable.
I like all animals, I especially like those big drug sniffing dogs, the german shepards. They are so smart! And cute.
I have a dog door and they know how to open the refrigerator - even though I took the handles off of it. So, they are pretty self sufficient around here.

That sounds great. Maybe if you teach them how to cook, one of these days you will wake up to breakfast already on the table.

The littlest one, a min-pin, dragged the telephone book outside. The book was bigger and heavier than he is. I figured he was calling for take out.
