Online dating: What do you do if.....
...a co-worker was delivered into your new match basket. This is someone you have known at work for years and worked together but you assumed they were taken. There is no attraction but you don't want to hurt their feelings. What reason do you select for close (Eharmony)?

Yikes that is awkward. Can you change your pic really fast so they don't know it's you? Sorry, I don't know.

Did they select you or the computer? If the computer did it just make a joke out of it and laugh about it with the co-worker. If they selected you say, "Hey, thanks for the compliment, I always thought you were taken but, you know I just don't date people I work with." If you have in the past and they know it use the past relationship as the reason for the new rule.

Hahaha that was what first came to mind but there are other potential matches that may become suspicious.

I don't use eharmony, but is being placed "in your basket" an indicator of THEIR interest? Or is that just a result of a system match-up?
If you are not interested, then respond in that manner. If they initiated the contact, they should be prepared for a negative response. I find it highly inappropriate for a co-worker to do that however, and to me that would be all the more reason to ignore the match. I don't know how the "close" works. What are your options?

The computer did. Me and this person communicate daily as we work in same department but on seperate floors. There was some attraction in the beginning some four years ago but she was too casual around me so I assumed she was taken or not interested. I am not sure she is interested even now but my taste has has definately changed and I have zero interest in her. I think is more of a matter of who gets to close first.

Then stop worrying about it. Close it, or ignore it...however that is done on eharmony.
