If you were a few years younger I would have had a different response but you being almost 30 makes you a full fledged adult LOL - do what you want and see how things go. The only issue I foresee in these age difference relationships isn't the now but the later when they get a lot older. When he's 70, you'll still be in your 50's and that's something to consider.

12 years isn't much of a difference....my oldest and her fiancee are 13 years apart and I've never seen a happier couple.....I suppose it depends on the maturity level of both people....she is very mature for her age and he is very young at heart.
