I didn't. i only know one couple that I knew in high school dating that married that are still married now you make me think of it.Most divorced ithier late 30's and equal 40's as I think on it.My aprents and my wiofe were married after high school and weretoe of the happiest I have seen as well as my sister.
I did not marry my high school sweatheart, I had two sweethearts back then. One was my first love, we dated from 10th grade to second semester of 11th. It took until my senior year to get over him, and I dated another from 12th to college.
The second guy I dated, I was his sweetheart, his first love. While I was engaged to my current husband, this guy paid the classmates.com fee for my e-mail and found me.
He professed all sorts of things, including the idea of leaving my fiance and running away with him.
I am just curious how many actually marry their HS sweetheart
No way man, but my little sister has been married to her high school sweetheart now for about 2 years, and they're really happy together, so it does happen
I would strongly urge the 14 year old to NOT have a high school sweetheart. He can have a few girlfriends, but during those years, having a "sweetheart" is just not a good idea. I think a lot of parents nowadays feel the same way which it why it seems to be so rare to have a HSSH.
I wonder how many people who DID marry their high school sweetheart went to college? Im thinking in most cases, they both did not.
I met my wife when we were in HS. We we dated for a few years, then were engaged for a few years. Yes, we both went to college and earned our degrees. We married when I was 28, and she was 27. We've been happily married now 30 years, 8 kids, and 5 grandkids, later.
I did not. We had hot sex for two years in high school then went off to different colleges. Once he got to college, drinking beer dominated his life, and i couldn't see the appeal.
My son however is age 23 and after five years with his high school sweetheart, they are engaged. They go to different universities. It looks like they will marry after graduation. As long as they both finish college and get their degrees I'm all for it. They are both far more mature and better adjusted than I was, or my son's dad was, at their age.
I met my husband when I was 16, we dated for 13 years before we got married. Now happily married for 4 years..... :-)
