Default Why do rich men get married?

This is something I fundamentally don't understand. I have been going over the Forbes 400 and I have noticed that something like 97% are married, divorced or widowed and only 3% are single never married. As you do research on the people, person after person is involved in long drawn out, expensive divorce settlements. I'm not talking like boom bam were divorced but long drawn out affairs where the court gets involved and starts trying to audit how much money he has, disputes over possessions etc that get very bitter. Being as how common it is, I have to ask why do rich men get married at all?

Yes, I guess you are all right...rich men don't have the same desires that mere mortals have since they must be super human to be that wealthy

They're dumb, like the rest of us. Maybe they think, since they have beat the odds and become wealthy, they can beat the 50% odds of divorce?

Examples:

Donald Bren:
Since 2003, Bren has been engaged in a child support conflict with two of his children and their mother, and is fighting their attempts to determine the extent of his wealth.

■A dispute between Dallas businessman Sam E. Wyly and his former wife Victoria Lee Wyly (Torie Steele) over possession of an original Pablo Picasso painting has been moved from state court to federal court...

Yet there is no citation regarding how long they were married, if she is a contributor, and the big one - were they together before they became wealthy - and I say 'they' very firmly. A lot of women support their husbands while they expand their empire and a lot of men marry women who were wealthy before they wed as well.

They can buy the same desires cheaper or just live with someone without the headaches.

No, I really don't. Why not just live with someone or pay for it? I can see no good or logical reason why a rich man would want to be married. Now women, OTOH...

Ok, maybe a guy might want to marry to have someone there next to him on his deathbed.
