Well buddhism was developed as a method of teaching not as a religion. I have the greatest book on it but I loaned it out to a friend of mine.

Well, the Japanese would say he had hara - a strong life-force, stored just below the navel.

...but yeah, I think he probably just supersized his McVeggie meals too much.

There was just something about him that troubled me.

There is a book about this very thing worth reading and it's called, "The Gift of Fear" I highly recommend it, it's very good and speaks about this very thing.
Excellent book

While never wanting to just "judge a book by its cover", I do believe we HAVE TO pay attention to those gut instincts we get about people

Think about it for a few days and you'll see what I mean.

Can you see the way that tree bends?
Does it inspire?
Leaning out to catch the sun's rays
A lesson to be applied
Are we getting something out of this
All encompassing trip?

You can spend your time alone,
Redigesting past regrets or
You can come to terms and realize
You're the only one who can't forgive yourself

Makes much more sense...to live...in the Present Tense

In addition to "The Gift of Fear" you might also want to check out "Buddhism Plain and Simple" it's a quick read and speaks to what you are starting to question and the spiritual arena you are looking with specifics on living in the present. Explaining that life doesn't begin when we are done with this project or task, it is right now. A very good book.

There is an explanation for this on the psychic level, in the book "The Celestine Prophecy". Its a weekend read, very small book.
