Default Forget about love; I need security

Who else is on board with this idea?

I am at an age now where I have to forget about love and just think about survival (in this economy and it light of where we are headed). It's really sad, as the first time around I married someone as I thought he'd be a "good provider." Still, we were more like roommates than lovers. Years later, I would like to make things work with someone else who I really care for, but I will never have any sort of financial security with him. I need the whole package at this point but will settle.

Anyone else?

Why can't you make your own financial security? That is what single people do every day.

That is what I did. He had a little nest egg, I took that and made it a lot bigger.

I have it to an extent but I don't have a job. I need benefits. Who knows when and if I'll get another job. I thought I was set for life financially pretty much, but turns out not so. Had things not gone south as they have, I'd be working and saving and have benefits. I think a LOT of people are finding this out now the hard way.

My first thoughts are these......sounds like a yard sale item where the best offer gets it.

Sorry there is no guarantee either way you go.

Please forgive me if that sounds cruel as it is not intended to be that way.

I think you'd be miserable on a daily basis in the long run.

No offense taken. I've just never cared if guys were broke or not. Usually they were. I have taken steps in life to be independent. I have an MBA. I own my home free and clear. I am not broke. HOWEVER, now I think I should have spent more money on highlights, nails and tanning beds than education.

I would never be able to waste my days with someone who I thought would be able to pay the bills. I could never rely on anyone for my livelihood. Why rely on someone who could bail and two-faced when one can rely on oneself? I've got two hands two feet and a working mind. I can make it on my own, thanks.

I was riding my bike. He was repairing a well not far from my house. I looked at the rig and thought, "OK, there is money to be made with something like that". So, I went up to the rig.
