I find in general people do not like smart women or men. The most popular kids are usually into beer, sports and carrying on. That seems to be the case in the adult world also. I run into very few people who really follow current events or read non fiction books. Most people are intellectually lazy and uninterested.

If you were looking for a friend or a spouse, would you want the smartest person in the room or someone who is just about average?
I would use the MEGAMAN approach and take the smartest person in the room that way I could improve myself from learning there knowledge.

Anyhow, I completely agree in that people are intellectually lazy and that the rest are usually into beer, sports and carrying on (*yawn*). I like to have fun (who doesn't) but why should I kill brain cells that I rely on to survive in everyday life in order to have a good time?

Default Would you like a brainy intellectual type as a friend, lover or spouse?

Yes! I adore brainy men as both romantic company and platonic friends. But I am a brainy woman. I feel that I am currently in my best relationship ever and it's because my boyfriend is my intellectual equal. Stupid and unthinking people bore and annoy me if I have to spend a lot of time with them.

Hey Harhar,

So in other words she couldn't look like this? http://www.unknownhighway.com/images/uploads/donna.jpg

My current partner is all of those things. She's smart without being pretentious. And about equal to my intelligence. Plus we share mostly the same beliefs about things, which is a plus.

I wouldn't mind a woman smarter, but she'd have to have all of the other same qualities and not flaunt the fact that she's smarter than me.

Sorry, but I wouldn't want anything to do with someone who considered him or herself the smartest person in the room.

I'd rather have someone who is a little more modest. I can't relate to big egos.

Ditto! Such threads and self-proclaimed geniuses always make me sick. If you feel the need to say it yourself, you ain't got it - that about sums it up for me.

I agree I am looking for a nerd as a bf. However seems even the smarties are uptight. A good old fashion sweet yet smart nerd for me.

Yup. And there's always going to be someone who is smarter than you in some capacity. Assuming you're the smartest isn't so smart.
