Default On What Hand Do You Wear Your Wedding Ring On?

Left or right? Does this make a difference?

Left hand. This hand, in most people, is not the dominate hand thus risking less damage to the ring. The particular finger is considered by some cultures as the direct line to the heart. To read more about it see here: http://www.seiyaku.com/customs/left-hand.html

Left hand. However, I've heard that some Europeans wear their wedding rings on their right hand.

Otherwise, there is a fashion trend of women wearing flashy expensive right hand rings, just to show off jewelry that they've bought themselves. So left hand for wearing jewelry bought by a s/o. And the right hand for ones own purchases.

Tradition dictates the third finger of the left hand. As far back as ancient Egypt, people believed the "vein of love" ran from that finger directly to the heart. In many cultures, including my own, a ring has nothing to do with marriage.

That is right for Russia. Married people wear the wedding ring on the right hand, divorced on the left.

Currently, on the right hand. We moved to S. America several yrs ago, and here they gen. wear the rings on the right hand. Also, we travel to Europe a lot, where they also wear the rings on the right hand. I have kept them on the right hand also, while in the States, not only b/c that's what I've been doing, but somehow, it's my silent way of distancing myself from my marriage.

One ring I used to wear on the left hand as is the custom here; another I used to wear to the right hand as is the custom back home and as I prefer. I don't think it matters. However, I might've jinxed myself in another way. A wedding ring is supposed to be round, which symbolizes eternity. Because I've always liked unusual shapes and because of the wedding fashions here, none of my rings were of this shape. In my culture a wedding ring is a simple round (and smooth!) golden band. Of course, that's not to say that people having such bands don't divorce...

Left hand, less prone to damage.
