One of my pals met a guy a few weeks back. He seems nice enough and they get along pretty well but he says he doesn't want any pets, ever. He doesn't hate animals, he's just not a pet person. She is and always has been. She is moving into a new home shortly and planned on getting a Golden Retriever or a Lab. They are both looking to settle down, so this may be a dealbreaker.
Would it be a deal breaker for you? Would you end it now and not waste any more time or would you keep going just to see what happens?
I love pets... I had a cat but had to get rid of it because my step-father is allergic...
Anyway, I would understand if she was allergic to pets. That's understandable. Not a deal-breaker. If she gave specific reasons as to why she wouldn't want pets then I may have to consider... Hopefully, she'd be willing to have kids instead of pets then. If you truly love a person, it shouldn't matter.

Everyone is different of course. I have had a cat most of my life, and sadly just had to put ours down. I still miss her.
Obviously I only speak for myself here, but not having a pet NOW, and meeting someone that wants no pets, ever, would not bother me at all. Definitely not a deal breaker. Of course that's a completely different scenario than meeting such a person when I HAD a pet.
If he was the right guy, I think that is more important than possibly getting a dog in the future. If the man can be replaced then by all means do him a favor and say by-bye.
it is different if you already have pets, but if not, they're every bit as much of a commitment as children.
i love that we can go where we want, when we want, without having to worry about petsitters or such like.
i don't dislike pets, i just enjoy the freedom of not having one.
