My take on the Tiger Woods situation is that it's being used to divert attention to the fact that 30k more troops will be deployed to Afghanistan.

This is disgusting, more people are concerned by a rich man that is having extramarital affairs (nothing new) then the fact that 30k country men will be sent into harms way. Really, Tiger Woods and his personal life is not newsworthy and you people should be offended and outraged that the media would even try and pander this infotainment as actual news.

Somebody (don't know who) did the math and according to the current death tolls this means that an average of 100+ solders will die each month over the next few years. That also means 100+ families each month in Anytown, USA will be torn apart for life while you sit over here and watch football and talk about Tiger Woods.

What is the point. The thing that is funny is that the entire story is just not a story. The reason it is so reported on is that he appeared to be so goody goody. I like it that he is a freak now! I always wondered about him, as he is so gorgeous and he sure can leave a sexy voicemail!!
Is this supposed to be a joke?

This is the one thing that has me even paying attention to the Tiger stuff (limited to here on city-data and one other sports board I frequent.)

I don't care, man or woman, anybody capable of physical violence ...just how good is their spouse being treated? Being married to one with physical violence tendencies should be the tell-all that the spouse (in this case, allegedly Mr. Woods) should break the mold and just get the heck away. Children (and the ensuing social stigma; stripping of pride, especially for folks well known whether just in their own community or globally) are ultimate pressure-packed reasons these people apparently choose to remain with an abuser.

Not to say it is Mr. Woods specifically, but in general: It is much harder for a man to admit he is being bullied by his wife. Put him on a national stage, he'll live in a private purgatory, even hell, to avoid the bigger hell he feels he'd be setting himself up for if it was ever known. And if the person a professional athlete -- forget it.

Sorry if I strayed here but somebody on another board posted a Saturday Night Live skit regarding Tiger ("news conferences") and it kinda "sounded very familiar" and hit a nerve big-time. I thought it would be comical (which was its intention, and I'm sure it was for the majority), but I got sick and regretted clicking.

If somebody is married to a bully, I PRAY that someday they find the strength to leave instead of sneaking around finding bootleg comfort elsewhere or, even worse, IMO, suffering privately (remaining totally faithful) altogether.

Very good point. I ignore all mainstream Mediots altogether (sorry, won't even click on the link) and pretty much rely on forum discussions for any pertinent happenings.

The (alleged) hitting aspect struck a chord with me and it's been something that's been eating me up for many years now. I hope if anything comes out of this, perhaps it will give people courage to do something should somebody famous set the precedent -- at least realising that the possibility does, indeed, exist.... "Oh My GOD! If it could happen to HIM ...!!!"

Exactly, and it has nothing to do with race. Look at all the white senators and governors who have been caught being unfaithful this year. It has nothing to do with race, but with the person and how much they value their marital vows.

Now, as for Tiger, he and his wife definitely have an uphill battle. Personally I will be surprised if they make it. But then again, Kobe and his wife are still going, which also surprises me. And I do believe Tiger's wife, alleged assault of him should have been investigated more.

To the single women, does this change your view about men at all? Do you now see us as untrustoworthy liars who don't care about your feelings like this older woman stated today?
I'd not spend a penny to read details about such foolishness. The guy can play golf, he's pretty much the king of that. He's on top. There will always be women that throw themselves at men like that, and unfortunately, men that have that power, generally end up enjoying the bennies. Not all, but a hell of a lot of them. So he's par for the course (pun intended) for that crowd, I think.

Does it change my mind about men, in general? Heck no. Not one iota.
