I do not like to wear a watch or rings and feel they are uncomfortable. But society tells me that I should wear a wedding ring to tell the world that I am taken.

Should I pay attention to society or my own comfort?

I don't like rings either as they're damn annoying. Forget what society tells you to do. If society tells you to jump off a bridge because everyone else is doing it would you do it??? Choose what you want to wear and not be forced to copy everyone else....

No, you should not pay attention to what society say. You should feel free to do whatever you want as long as you are harming no person. Many do not wear rings, and if the circumstances demand it, you can clearly say they are taken.

she feels as if it's "choking" her--but she DOES wear her wedding ring, since she is quite a traditional person.

Who is this person named Society and what's their number? I'll call and set her/him straight.

Wearing a wedding ring doesn't make you any more married than not wearing one.
