Are Mature Women Less Impressed With Money and Status?
A thread states that women are attracted to men with money. But that is usually the way younger women think. From my experience, mature women (40 and up) are less impressed by guys with money.
Any opinions?
Sometimes its more important to an older women..They move on from going for looks when their younger to security when their older..
Yeah, you're partially right. I'm 45 and don't go for looks. The only thing I really can't tolerate is obesity when it comes to physical appearance.
But it's not so much money as it is intelligence, self-confidence, and maturity. I don't want to be a grown man's mommy and motivator, no matter how old he is. I have to be able to respect the man, and we have to be able to communicate well and enjoy mutual interests. I've got advanced academic degrees, lots of interests, and a wealth of experiences. I require the same in a man.
A man like that can be financially successful, but not always. College professors are a good example -- they really don't make a lot of money. That doesn't matter. I'd rather have a very modest standard of living with someone compatible, intelligent, talented and interesting than live a life of luxury with someone boring and one-dimensional.
U don't have to be 40 and up to be mature. While it is true women are attracted to money and power so are men. I think being materialistic is something either you are or you are not. I don't think age and gender have so much to with materialism as much as values. I know some old gold diggers and not all female either.
I've never been attracted to status/power. As for money, it depends on how he got the money. Inheritances have never impressed me. On the other hand, I respect someone who worked his way up and earned his way. It implies a strong work ethic, which is a character trait I like to see in others. But.... if he flaunts it or acts like he is better than everyone else or makes any attempt to hold it over my head (i.e. I have more money, you would be nothing without me), then it would be a total deal breaker.
I'm a fairly conservative person, so having loads of money doesn't matter so much.

I just turned 40. I would be happy to be with a man who earns roughly the same amount of money as me. (My salary would be high outside of NYC, but here it keeps me solidly in the middle class.) More money and/or more status doesn't matter to me. Then again, it never did.

NO woman is impressed by bums! Get it once and for all!
Kinda true, unfortunately. A 40 year old "nice" guy typically won't give me the time of day. Instead he'll complain that 20-30 year old women won't give him the time of day because he isn't wealthy.
"Mature" women have their own money. They can look for other things in a man, as long as he's not a moocher.
