A word to the wise re: threads dealing with race and other potentially inflammatory subjects
We have recently had quite a few potentially inflammatory threads - especially, but not limited to, threads dealing with interracial dating. Until now, the mods have been rather lenient in allowing such threads to survive. But, as Dylan said, the times are-a-changin'.
The number of threads dealing with what I would call "inane" topics, for lack of a better label, has grown considerably over the last few months. While I think there is a time and a place for such discussions, we need some ad hoc rule in place to keep the forum useful as well as entertaining for everyone.
Therefore.... let it be known....
As a general rule, topics dealing with some ONE's paricular problem or issue is less likely to be deemed inflammatory than a topic dealing with blanket generalities but not dealing with any poster in particular.
Subjects dealing with broad generalities (such as "why don't asian men like black women", etc.), will, for the most part, be scrutinized by the mods (me in particular). If such broad, general threads appear, in our subjective judgement, to be more inflammatory than informational, it will either be locked and/or deleted and infractions may or may not be issued, depending upon the nature of the topic, the history of the poster, and the mood of the moderator at the time. So posters beware on this front.
