It's impossible for men or anyone to not have insecurities, however I am pretty sure women like men who can conquer their insecurities or the biggest of them.
In defense of the gentlemen, this debate is about how we define masculininty, assertiveness, and what we think is attractive to women. When we also consider culture, religion, disability, income, and circumstances, it becomes even harder to slap the nice guy label on someone and say they are worthless or incompetent. Many people have called Jesus Christ(forgive not 7 but 77 times), Martin Luther King Jr. (passive resistance), and JFK (Cuban Missle Crisis) "nice guys." In the words of Emerson, "To be great is to be misunderstood."

Those that out men like us (gentlemen) unfairly are not be worth the time and should suffer with what they get in the end.
I think being "human" is the best way to spend the rest of our lives.
