My entire family is conservative.

I'm liberal.

The end.

I get told what a disappointment I am and that I am pathetic for accepting help (though I helped the person in the past.) from family and that my boyfriend doesn't want me. Not speaking to this person who said all this anymore, why talk to someone who makes you feel bad, family or no?

Just smile at them and exclaim what a bundle of cheer they are this holiday season. They must have accidentally got a branch of holly shoved up their a$$. I don't understand people who try to make other people feel like $hit during the holidays. It's really quite pathetic.

Oldest son had just turned 2. Day after Christmas he wakes up with a strange rash, we thought it was chicken pox. Travel plans to go to the grandparents were cancelled. Instead oldest daughter (4) and I make a quick trip to my brother's a couple hours away. That gets cut short when his cat hits my allergies worse than usual. I get home and wife says "We don't have hot water". Get up next morning, son's rash is gone but I have to get new elements/thermostats for the water heater. I've learned with our house to always double the time estimate for repairs since the house is old and, well, strange. Spent the better part of the day fixing that. Finally got to grandparents the next day (6 hour drive).
All is well for a couple days until we're driving home and son, who still doesn't talk much at 24, says "Arm hurts". Go to the Dr. next day and it turns out that his wrist was broken. He'd fallen off my mother's couch when we were all in the dining room and didn't say anything at the time.

When his sister was 2 she and I were sharing cashews on New Year's Eve. Her entire face swells up so much her eyes are swollen shut and her ears have pretty much disappeared. Off we go to the Emergency Room at 8:30PM. That's when we found out she was allergic to peanuts, cashews, etc.

I have a father who works in government. . . plus my entire family loves talking about politics, history, society, etc. Dinners are typically debates incognito and with yummy food. It's not horrific or anything, but it's tiring always having to defend my opinions.

At one time all of us in the immediate family and a few extended members all worked for competitors in the same industry. Just sitting down for a meal together probably violated about 10 federal anti-trust laws if we weren't so competitive and sarcastic. It was one helluva gathering I tell you. Seriously, my mom, my dad, myself and my brothers all worked for competing firms. We tried all working toether and that was a major disaster. So, we had to break up the family gatherings.
