Yes! I know exactly how you felt! I had let the bad situation go until I almost hated the man (and I'd definitely stopped loving him).

I was terrified when I got married. When I got my final divorce papers seven years later, I danced around the living room! So, yes, I know how you feel.

Yes, I understand completely!

What a shock it was, though, to discover a couple of years later that I was more miserable without her than I ever was with her.

We re-married and that 2 year hiatus, that period of pondering and thinking, was just the thing we both needed to fully appreciate each others company.

Oh yeah...I let it go until I was fantasizing about how he would die and what I'd wear to the funeral.

Yes yes yes.

I remember being in the limo at a red light next to a wooded hill and thinking, "I COULD just jump out of here and run up and hide in those woods."

My divorce lawyer's secretary told me how great I looked when the divorce was done, and said she sees that all the time. Divorced women lose years once the papers are final. The weight of having an unkind and nasty person at you all the time takes its toll, and once they are gone, it's an incredible feeling of lightness.
