Default Been living by a new motto the last few months.....

Never turn down a social invtation unless already have something else of great Importance on. In the past think too regularly would turn em down, with not significant enough reasons. Sometimes its out of your comfort zone, but I mean most of the time you attend you have a good time and meet new people.
I suggest anyone who creates a thread along the lines of how do I meet people and expand social circle, should get into their heads this motto too.

I think it's great. I kind of have started something similar. Not calling it a New Year's resolution (don't believe in them) but, what I did do is this...
I work for a naval installation, everyone I work with are all friends, we actually hang out after work. I have tried several times before to have parties, cookouts, etc.. at my house and half would show, or very little. They would say they would come then didn't, etc...
So, after awhile, I stopped being social and just decided that even though when they asked me to do things with them I did, I didn't get the same in return so I cut myself off completely and told them why.
Well, I decided to take a chance and had a NY Eve party, wouldn't you know, every single person I invited showed up, they all brought something (BYOB) and I provided food.
It was a ton of fun, we all had a good time and now everyone is asking when the next party is LOL
Go figure....
So, it does pay to keep trying.

You are right about that. You can think yourself out of things but most of the time you wind up having a great time.

My motto is still the same , "OH,Why NOT! Why THE HELL NOT!!" Followed at times by "Bring it on" or "Anyone else want a piece of me."

Two days ago I went to do the dishes and the sink is clogged, no problem I can fix that. Then I heard water just gushing under the sink....the kitchen sink itself has three small holes in it....why not, WHY THE HELL NOT!"

So I used a wet/dry vac to clean up all the water and fried it. I made pasta and went to drain it and the handle was loose and came off - pasta and water all over the floor. Went to go out to the store - flat tire. Why NOT! Why the HELL NOT!!" There's more but I'll save this for stress and venting. I have more happen to me in a couple hours than most people do in a year...'Why NOT! Why the HELL NOT!"

One year I lost my job and my SO broke up with me on the phone when I came home, totalled my car into the back of a city bus and blew up the lawn mower - all in one weekend...."Why NOT! Why the HELL NOT!"

Went to the grocery store and ran out of gas on the way home, the meter was broken. I had to hoof it over the interstate and turnpike bridge in the rain sleet and snow. Walked back to the car and noticed someone stole my groceries out of the car..."Why NOT! Why the HELL NOT!"

Thank God I have a sense of humor about these things.
