I think what scares me about the sex tape thing is that 20 years ago, if there were pictures or video, they were actual physical objects stashed in a drawer or in a box in the closet. Now any images can be on the internet in seconds and you've lost all control of them.
Not too mention today one can be filmed/taped and wouldn't even know it. Like the 24 year old fast food manager in my hometown. His girlfriend "as a surprise" decided to secretly film her BF taking a shower, shaving his head, trimming his goatee, even taking a .....you get the idea ( BTW not a number 2). all normal activities he would do every morning just before he would head off to work. She had all these tiny cameras stationed throughout the bathroom.
That afternoon she uploaded the video onto one of theose You Tube adult sites and to give her BF a surprise, I guess a way to "spice things up". While she knew others would be watching she didn't know ( DUH !! ) that others would be able to save that clip and send it to their friends. Ah yeah..by the time that guy got home from work he is unaware that he is already a "porn star".
Considering the fact that one getting involved with such stuff can get one fired from their job, lose their home, cause of public protest and gossip, causing family problems and perhaps in some places... even jail time since some types of porn is still illegal in some places such as being filmed doing that "number one" in the toliet. Yes it can be scary.
Wow, I think you all are being a bit naive! This is STANDARD PRACTICE in today's world!
For example:
I went in to see my insurance agent today to straighten up some discrepancies on my car insurance payment. We talked about the terms and since we couldn't quite reach an agreement on dates for automatic withdrawal from my bank account, we decided to go ahead and make a sex tape in case things went badly down the line, such as the withdrawal being rejected if I had insufficient funds. That way the sex tape could "get out" and the overdraft rejection could be swept under the rug.
Later I was at work and I had a dispute with a coworker over some coffee of mine she'd poured out. This dispute has been kind of ongoing, building up in intensity -- so we went ahead and made a sex tape just in case our bickering ever reached our boss' ears; that way rather than dealing with in-office counseling on getting along the entire coffee incident would be completely overshadowed.
I was at the grocery and bought some tomatoes, an imported brand someone had told me about, which I wanted to try with a new lasagna recipe. When I got to the checkout the price came up wrong compared to what was posted back in the aisle. The manager went to check the price and when he came back he agreed there was a price discrepancy. Nevertheless, we felt that it would be in the best interests of all if we made a sex tape because part of their policy on disputed items is to try to satisfy the customer. Granted, I'm heterosexual and he was an enormous black man, but on occasion you have to just do what's right in order to keep up with the times. He put our sex tape on file with other customers' sex tapes and I'm terribly worried that one might "get out".
On the way home I stopped by a friend's house to see if she'd burned a DVD for me. She hadn't yet despite that she'd promised, and I was mad; so you guessed it: Sex tape. She actually wanted to use her webcam and burn that directly to DVD but I argued against it. For one thing I'm making a SEX TAPE, I'm not just some trashy bimbo who gives it away on the internet. For another thing -- hello?!? SEX TAPE, not "sex DVD"...? Hello, stupid?!? Duh...! And finally, sure you've got time to make a sex tape and burn THAT to DVD but you didn't have time for frickin' 500 Days of Summer? Sheesh!
After I got home my wife wanted to have sex but I was reaaally all worn out from making sex tapes all day and didn't want to. We ended up arguing about it and because the neighbors heard our dispute we hurried up and made a sex tape to cover the dispute about my not wanting sex, in case the cops came.
I hope the cops aren't argumentative... I'm very tired now and I'd hate for this whole thing to lead to... oh, you know...
This is actually not unusual and I imagine most people wouldn't fess up to it, though. The part I find amazing is that they would lose track of this kind of video and have to "hope the ex didn't post it online." Are you kidding me? If I had a video, I would put it in a safe within a safe and no one else would have a copy.
Why on Earth are people stupid enough to videotape their "activities?"
Because it's a turn on, fetish etc. The same reasons people do any type of extra "stuff" to enhance their "activities".

I wouldn't put it pass a lot of these famous people to leak it themselves for the publicity...
Ok I actually made a video with an ex some years ago while we were on vacation. It was just because it was something "different" to do. However, i was really paranoid about it and i never even let HIM view the tape, as i kept it myself. Honest truth. LOL So, I guess it was a bit pointless to even do it.
I destroyed the tape, and no I would never do that again, it was just a curiosity thing.
Because..... (drumroll please!)..... people are stupid.
