Lets say you go out on a few dates with an attractive guy/girl and everything is connecting. The person has goals, has a decent job, responsible and considers hisself/herself pretty successful so far. But you find out one day this person smokes marijuana.

I'm not talking about a complete stoner. Just someone that likes to smoke on the weekends some and maybe a little during the week after work or school.

Opinions?

As long as she doesn't watch reality TV. That stuff rots your brain.

I don't have a problem with people who do it. I know plenty of folks who do and live productive and even successful lives. I don't want it in my relationship, though. I don't want drugs in my home.

I say smoke 'em if you got 'em.

There are a lot of messed up people out there who are severly medicated just to function. Sometimes I think marijuana would be a better prescription.

I say absolutely not! It would not be ok, I had friends who did it and grad college and have decent jobs and would still do it. I just thought less of them. If you in high school...it happens. When you are an adult you need to be a better example and grow up. It would be an absolute NO for me.

LOTS of people have this idea - but I never really understood this.

Caffeine, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, birth control, alcohol, antibiotics - these are all drugs. Even the food we eat is loaded with various natural and synthetic drugs.

So obviously folks like yourself who claim they "Don't want drugs in my home" are talking about a particular, loosely defined type of drugs. I don't intuitively understand what makes a particular drug "good" or "bad" - Which leads me to ask - what type of drugs is it that so many people claim they don't want in their homes? Controlled substances? illegal substances? recreational substances? addictive substances?

You left off all the anti-depressant meds, some of which are controlled substances and addictive, being taken by half the population.

If the person is a productive person and not a pothead couch potato, I don't care. It's the same with someone who has a few drinks from time to time and someone who is a drunkard.

I hope you feel the same way about alcohol.

I recently went back to see some old buddies I have not seen in years from school. A few have smoked pot since they were teenagers and trust me IT SHOWED! Dumb as a stump came to mind. One old friend was delusional and had all but fried his brain and was completely unaware of how far gone he was.

I personally can't stand dope smoking, never even tried it as I've seen too many people dumbed down over the years who use it regularly. But if you really want to smoke it, be my guest, just not around me. No thanks. I would never date someone who smokes pot, having seen what I have over the years.
