I've never been fat, but over the last 7 years I've edged closer to the high end of normal BMI. I'm not happy about it, and keep trying to lose those pounds. My wife is very concerned about my health, especially after seeing neighbors (who take far less good care of themselves and are considerably overweight) experience severe and debilitating health issues recently. I'm very glad she cares enough to want to help me lose some weight. She's very positive and supportive, and not only helps plan healthy meals and activities, but finds interesting and persuasive ways to motivate me, that work for me. Her concern is clearly out of love, not merely aesthetics.
I'm sure you'd already know if you've gained weight.
Reinforcement that it's not just "in my head" (since a lot of girls think they are overweight to begin with even if they are not), is good motivation to do something about it.
