Should I finish with him ? I love him to bits though , should I let this put me off?
YES! This is not weed this is a Hard Drug an big time illegal this is not something normal people do, if you were caught with him while he had it on him you could go to jail! This is a serious crime. Check this link out DEA, Drug Information, MDMA (http://www.justice.gov/dea/concern/mdma.html#2 - broken link)
Here are a few main points:
MDMA (ectasy) can interfere with the body’s ability to regulate temperature. On rare but unpredictable occasions, this can lead to a sharp increase in body temperature (hyperthermia), resulting in liver, kidney, and cardiovascular system failure, and death
Almost 60 percent of people who use MDMA report withdrawal symptoms, including fatigue, loss of appetite, depressed feelings, and trouble concentrating
Also you never know what else is in the drug. Taking any illegal drug is a bad thing, that one time you might be caught, that one time you might love it and it will ruin your life, that ONE time you might have a bad reaction and die! You decide but if I was ever with someone in a relationship that took any illegal drugs I would just walk away and never talk to that person again.
(I am highly against illegal drugs and one day would like to work for the DEA) So that is one reason I am so against this stuff. But really Ecstasy! This is a hard core drug and should not be taken lightly.
Yes, it is. I know people who are addicted to it. It is absolutely highly addictive and potentially dangerous. It is a hard core drug.
It is definitely a hard core drug, of dubious consistency, and with potentially severe side effects -- but I too am skeptical that it has addictive properties.
Long story short, MDMA more or less synthesizes the brain chemistry of an orgasm.
I have met this wonderful guy who loves me to bits...
My best guess is that if push came to shove, you'd find that he loves his drugs more than he loves you! But what do I know? I'm just a former state narcotics agent.

My biggest beefs with street drugs are that they're illegal, there is no quality control, they can be dangerous, they take control of you and you often have to deal with the scum of the earth to get them!

Well, I can only echo couple of people who ended up in Rehab because of it.

Perhaps you can tell us your opinion of whether or not ecstasy is addictive.
There's another thing to consider. If you do end up taking ecstasy it's quite possible that you could end up trying other drugs. You could also become involved with a circle of new friends who are into the whole drug culture and I've seen first hand what can happen if you do. My brother in law's sister has spent at least half of her adult life in prison because she became involved in drugs when she was very young. Now she's this hard core addict who habitually goes right back to her old ways when she gets out of prison and then finds herself going right back again because she's to the point where she just has no self control.
