Default I'm Married Not Dead

Hi, Do any of you younger women or men feel like your friends assume that you won't go out with them or do fun things since you are married? I recently confronted some of my friends because they never ask me to go out anymore. They said they didn't think I'd want to because I'm married. The one time I did go out with them (they are all single) a few guys came over and joined our table. When I dared open my mouth to join the conversation with the guys, my friend said, "just so you know, she is married" Instantly I felt like I wasn't entitled to even speak. Does any one else get this assumption that since you are married, you don't want to have fun anymore? I feel so old compared to my friends when they act this way!

You mean you didn't get the memo? Marriage causes you to put on 10 years and 20 pounds. I thought everyone knew that.! It's part of the package!

You know it's crazy, but its like people think that. I got married 7 months ago and it changed overnight. I lived with my husband for several years before that and wasn't treated that way, but sign a piece of paper and suddenly you are an old, washed up hag in the eyes of others.

Why can't I be a part of the gang? Because I signed a piece of paper? I was part of the gang when I was in a relationship.

You remind me of the wife of a coworker I used to work closely with and she was very jealous because at the time I was divorced (well, she's 10 years older than he is, too). When I got married again, she congratulated me with the following words - Now you're old and married like the rest of us! Hello, I was married before... I guess I was old and married, then became young and threatening, then old and married again! I haven't heard how she feels about it now that I'm young and threatening again, but her husband and I no longer work in the same department, so hopefully she found some peace!

No kidding. I looked so much better before I got married. My skin has never been this bad, I've put on weight and stress is my middle name...

ah but you stepped out and made a commitment that places an invisible wall up that you can't see and everyone around you feels.

So you basically are saying I will never be able to do things with friends again?
