Default beta males etc

I have no Idea what these definitions mean beta male etc etc.

If someone could give a quick summary that would be helpful, thanks.

everyone participates in some sort of social hierarchy, whether you have a supervisor in an office environment, you yield power to your local city council, or you are talking about a high school football team.

alpha is a word that describes a leadership role. the alpha communicates to others what to do, implicitly or explicity, and the group members comply. this can be an unspoken shifting role among a group of people, or it can be etched into stone that one individual is the alpha.

in any case, it is relevant to human attraction. women generally find alpha male roles and attitudes to be attractive. men generally see no added value in the alpha female.

it is interesting, though. a leadership role is not something you choose for yourself, it is a result of your behavior. many people aren't cut out for any leadership, and that thread shows how they grapple with choices: acknowledge that they are mostly a 'follower', or attempt to isolate themselves from social hierarchies altogether?

Basically the guy that coined it is just trying to get a new word into mainstream society (in between winning his big court cases and "stuff").
