I am laughing at these replies!

Morning light, sunset, candlelight. It's all very good.

I agree with the soft light or daylight votes. I don't mind regular lights, per se, but it keeps me from really getting into it because I'm worried about making a very un-sexy facial expression.

Ultimately, candlelight is boss.

For the ture romantics, I suggest flicker light bulbs. Flicker light bulbs can be purchased in the home improvement stores an will work in most common lamps. Use several. The bulbs "flicker" giving the impression of a candle. Better than candles, you both can fall asleep without worrying about burning candles.
I let the light from the walkway in the motel light the room.
