As I said in the other thread, I'm a vegetarian, and factory farming is the major reason why.
Unless you only eat locally grown vegetables, what you eat is FAR more damaging to the environment and to animals than hunting is.

I personally would not just because I am a huge animal person. I know that contradicts because I'm a meat eater...Ok just don't ask me to elaborate..I've enough of doing that today, LOL

Agreed. Unless they really are starving and cannot afford food, hunting is a "sport" that people engage in because they like it. There is a huge industry of hunting gear and people who really enjoy the sport and support that industry. It might not be the actual killing that is fun, but the hunt itself. The purpose of hunting is killing not much difference.

It's fine, most of us eat meat, but don't say it's just for food, and deny the sport (enjoyment) aspect of hunting. If people did not like it they would not do it. And no, I would not date someone who enjoyed that sport, although I have no bad feelings toward them - they are family and friends.

There is also a distinction between trophy hunters who go on safari's to tag a lion or rhino for bragging rights, and those who hunt a deer and stock up meat in the freezer for winter while controlling the population. While I understand the trophy hunters donate the meat of freshly killed grizzlies, polar bears, lions, elephants etc., I don't support that sort of hunting just for the thrill of the kill and a stuffed grizzly in the corner of your den. Hunting game animals for food like deer, turkey, or wild boar is totally acceptable. Even having open season on certain pest animals to balance the populations and control disease of famine like coyotes or rodents has it's place in the eco system.

Actually, when I can get it, I do.

And this has to do with being turned off by a man's thrill-killing...how?

It would be hypocritical to say no because I love meat, poultry & fish.

Like others have said, as long as the hunting was ultimately for personal consumption and not just for the thrill of the kill. Humans after all are animals and we are at the top of the food chain. No reason to forego meat IMO.

BTW, there are animals that play with & torture their prey before the kill.
