It's true. I was sitting in the lab today analyzing more...never ending... data with the radio playing next to me on an ajacent bench. It was pink floyd's wish you were here. As a former working artist it hit me hard. I thought "what the hell am I doing?" Meh. Somebody shut me up!

Well, I have always wanted to be a novelist/writer. I have had so many chances to just write but it's hard to be disciplined. However, being unemployed for so long, today I realized I have wasted my time trying to chase jobs when I could have been doing what I should be, writing.
I spend a good portion of the morning working on a new novel/story.
The way I figure it, I am not able to find ANY jobs here...I have to do something constructive with my time...

Was. "whimpers" lol After another cr*ppy meeting with my boss today, whose life goal is to have unsucessful projects lol, I called my dh and told him "that's it! I'm going to become a tech" He said maybe you'll have time then to pick up your air brush. Time mgt is always an issue at work and I'm beginning to realize I need to manage my time right out of my job when I leave the site.

Good for you. Keep at it. Who knows how it will go. If you keep throwing stones, you're bound to hit something.

I mean lab tech. In my industry lab techs screen samples, have clearly defined duties, etc. They do not take their work home with them. I have a number of friends that work in labs that do just that. When 5pm rolls around they're done. No over time, no further thought. It has its draw backs (perhaps too much monotony and financially), but the lightened responsibility surely leads to less stress. Life is too short to stress out.

I think we're pychically linked. I have bathrooms on the brain too! I saw this one design by Candis Olsen on hgtv 3-4 years ago and it's my dream bathroom. Right now we have something closer to a broom closet lol. Once he's out of school...new bathroom! Do you have a spa?
btw, now I can see that pic...*dreams*

Money is not the main thing if u r totally into someone. Sometime u may struggle at some point in ur career, but u should be doing everything u can to be financially stable or independent. If u r a writer or musician maybe u work outside of ur art to sustain yourself. People work in fields that r not their profession of choice all the time. The artistic r not exempt. I would marry someone who was struggling if struggling is a temporary state and the guy was striving to do better. Now all that being said a man who is broke, unemployed r close to it simply cannot afford to get married, but that does not mean he is not a person of worth.
