Considering this is more than a philosophical argument, the real life experience, deciding from one or the other, SHOULD be neither. As respondents have stated, both options are not satisfactory. A real man will treat you way better and give you want you want to be happy. I would add, holding out for more than either option offers "ups" the ante, to encourage the fellow to make better choices.
A woman I know aptly stated, 'if you want some of this, you have to court me.' A real man will court a woman and a real woman shouldn't settle for less. Guys get away with way too much. Telling a man what you want is not the same as someone who will never get to that point of working to be pleasing to a woman, and is only looking to notch the belt.
