Why do people self-righteously slam "Hollywood" marriages? (movies, young, kids)

Outside Hollywood, it is unusual for anyone to be married more than twice. In Hollywood, it seems there is something wrong if you're not on your third by the age of 30.
I've been reading articles online about various failed celeb marriages. Browsing through the comments sections, many people were slamming "Hollywood" and celebs, for their failed marriages -- as if that segment of the population has somehow cornered the market on divorce. Last time I checked, the divorce rate for ALL marriages was hovering around 50%. This means, doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses, preachers, cops, fireman, paramedics, office workers...the list goes on and on.
Yet, some people have this mentality that divorce is something exclusive to Hollywood. Am I missing something?
"People" have a hard time making marriages work, not just "Hollywood".
They're not saying divorce is exclusive to Hollywood. What they're slamming is the idea that these people, many of whom are shallow narcissists that travel a lot for their jobs, expect to make a marriage last. Whenever I hear about two big actors getting married, I wonder if they'll even make it the one-year mark. Just imagine having a job where you spend long periods away from home, you have no privacy, and you have a bunch of yes-people telling you how great you are. Do you think that's going to make marriage easier?

Yeah I always wonder how long it'll last too. Just look at Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson. Now they're fighting for custody over their kid.

Ashlee Simpson doesn't strike me as someone who has a lot of depth to her and that's true of a lot of celebrities. When two really good-looking people get together and think that just because they're both hot, that's enough to bond over, it's no surprise when their marriage ends.

It's not self-righteous, the track record for hollywood marriages is dismal and often seem to be motivated at times by publicity and are certainly impacted by the flakier-than-normal behavior of some celebs.
We are merely pointing out the obvious.
Surely you are well aware that Paul Newmans long marriage was looked upon with shock and awe in Hollywood as a hugely rare exception.

Seriously...?
Outside Hollywood people are doing exactly the same thing. Someone may be famous for something but they are still the same as everyone else and only mirror whats happening with the non famous. My unlce was married 8 times and he wasn't famous...and it happend a long time ago before "hollywood" had any influence.

I think what the OP is saying is that it's self-righteous to be criticizing Hollywood for it's high failure rate when the rest of the population isn't much better. The track record for marriage is bad no matter where you go, but some people seem to make a big deal out of Hollywood marriages ending. You could go to plenty of other industries and find high divorce rates. So why single out Hollywood?

It's simply for no other reason than the fact that they're celebrities who are in the public eye. Everything they do whether they're single or married is going to be scrutinized to the highest extent.
