Narcissism definitely makes people successful. I wouldn't call it evil unless you are deliberately trying to be sadistic. Otherwise it is just selfishness. IMHO.
who always picked friends who were "beneath him", including myself. not "beneath" in terms of less of a person but they functioned less well and were less wordly. i noticed he never had friends who were "up on his level" tho he always admired his types from afar. i always thought it was because he could never compete with them (he was an ugly brainy MF who thought he was Mr Macho but picking friends who were lesser made him feel superior in some way)
Victims of narcissistic people don't take responsibility either. They have the victim entitlement. "I put up with this narcissist. He is all bad. I deserve honor. I'm all good." I've noticed that the victims don't ever look at themselves. When they point the finger at a narcissist they have three fingers pointing right back at them.
I know that mechanism. So when I was dealing with narcissists in my life. I always continued to look at myself to see how I could improve and deal with the depression and chronic frustration of manipulative and destructive people. It's survival mode.
this is true, that there are always two sides to every story.
I think though if anybody is disrespectful to us, we can choose how we react to it. it's best to disassociate with others who are bad to us.
I'm sure not everyone will agree, but I believe narcissism has an evil quality, greed is evil.
I don't think narcissism is evil. It's misguided, and arises from error.
No human being, in my mind, is so superior or "better" that s/he has extra value. Narcissism/egocentricity is an illogical attitude. Better is a subjective term, as is value.
