My best subjects in school were chemistry and physics, and I went on to become an electrician--which meant that I had to know a little bit about what I was working with. Oddly, few women become noted scientists or mathematicians...their forte tends to be verbal exercises.
It has been proven that schooling means squat when it comes to actual smarts and common sense, this thread being a shining example.

As far as stocking shelves goes, it's honest to goodness work. My tax job isn't work at all. It's too simple. Physical work is the only kind that has any value, because it is the only kind capable of causing muscle fatigue.
