Are you asking for the definition or for prophetic books in the New Testament? The word by definition means (I'm pretty sure) the study of the "end times".

It means a study of the end times or last things. There is a bit in Isaiah, daniel, Ezekiel, Amos, Zachariah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and 1 and 2 Thessalonians, a bit in 1 and 2 Timothy, 1 and 2 Peter, Jude, and much in revelation.  |

Most common is for Christians to use eschatology to refer to near in time things pertaining to the end of mankind in its present condition and its entrance into a new age where many humans are manifestly immortal, though it also refers to distant things when God shall be, "All in all." (1 Cor 15:28) I like to refer to the more distant in time eschatology ("last things") as "teleology" from the Greek word telos or "end."
