Take a stand? Do you find yourself being challenged a lot? Just curious...

I've seen business emails with Bible verse signatures, and my first thought is "how unprofessional".

Just curious....
I have enough things to remember when trying to buy or sell a house. The last thing I'd want is for an agent to get "preachy" on me.

Please don't tell me you're the type who tells clients, "bury a statue of the Blessed Mother upside down on your property, to help your house sell quicker?"

You might consider it unprofessional, but I know that if not for God, I would have nothing.

It's who I am. I am not ashamed.

I don't get preachy unless the client 'goes there'.

I do, however, give a gift card to Lowe's or a restaurant and a copy of The Purpose Driven Life to every client at every closing.

The owner of a company I used to work for gave out copies of that book to everyone at a Christmas party. Needless to say I never finished it, and I don't work there anymore.

The same company used to play religious music in their lobby, where customers/clients would occasionally be. I told him he should stop doing it, because we are in an area seeing a big influx of Middle Eastern and Asian residents. He agreed with me and stopped doing it.

That's exactly how I would see it. Just like I have a couple of small items of decor on my desk that identify me with being a Christian. As receptionist, I'm not trying to promote any type of business gain obviously, but rather just give expression, as Alpha said, to who I am.

You know, I have this book too, and never made it past chapter 1. Maybe I should try again? Or, in your humble opinion, is it so much sappy drivel?

I see nothing wrong with that, or with Alpha's biz cards either. I mean, given what Alpha does, if someone has a problem with his "fish" on the card, they could simply go elsewhere.

I myself have crosses and Christian sayings in my home, and I have had Christian stuff on my desks at previous jobs, but just have pics of the kids currently.

I sat down with that book and my bible for 40 days.

I read each chapter and looked up each individual scripture reference as I came to it.

Then I led a small group through it for 40 weeks, one chapter at a time and we never missed a week.

It changed me forever.

Nuff said.
