Default Do you try to patronize mainly "Christian-owned" businesses

You've seen them, business cards with Jesus fish on them, company flyers with bible quotes, newspaper and yellow page ads with prayers on them. Do you try and patronize businesses solely because they are Christian-owned? Or do you put more weight behind customer service and price?

Since they only allow 4 choices, you can fill in your own "other" if none apply.

(Apologies in advance if this poll has been discussed before)

Thanks

I have two kids and one on the way. I base my shopping habits on price - with the exception of WalMart, I hate that place.

I base my shopping on my perception of value for the dollar. If somebody's putting a fish or cross on their business logo to attract business, that's obnoxious.

I tend to think that alot (but definately not all) of the "Christian" companies are there to bilk a slightly more gullible part of the populace. I would bet dollars to donuts that alot of the businesses that sell stuff like WWJD bracelets made in China, or bookmarks, or Holy water from the Dead Sea aren't really Christian owned anyway.

But if I am in need of a particular service or product, and a reasonable price could be found at a Christians retailer, then yes, I would choose that retailer.

I hate Wal Mart too, but in the battle of morals vs. low low prices, I unfortunately can't afford to have morals right now. Low low prices win me over! Dang them!

For me its not even that. I dont have the time for WallyWorld. I go in get what I want and then spend 30 or 40 minutes waiting in a sea of people for the checkout girl to get the job done. I go to Target and I can get in and out in 10-15 minutes. Only so much time in a day.

Personally, maybe its just a guy thing, I hate, did I say hate? to shop. I want to run in, get what I want and get out, I dont want to drive all over looking for something. So no, I dont guess I look for Christian business on purpoise...that being said..some of the best small business' that I deal with..dont advertise they are Christians, you can tell by their actions. I think the bigger the company, the less you can really know what they are about, its less personal.

I know this is OT, but why do people still feel a need to use checks in stores. I write 2 checks a month; one for rent and one for kid's tuition. If they have a check, they have a debit card. If they have a debit card it take money from the checking account. Debit card = 20 seconds. Check = 5 mintues. What am I missing?

Maybe it is a guy thing, because to go shopping with my wife and her mom, or my sister and my mom is akin to shoving hot pokers into my eye sockets. Get in, get whatcha want, and get out, says I!!!! The only time I would consider it fun is if I had a ton of $$$$ and was shopping for ME ME ME, getting electronic equipment, clothes, DVD's CD's, ect. And since this has with very very few exceptions only happened in my HEAD, I don't like to shop.

And I agree Britt--I HATE going to Wally World for those reasons too.
