Default Christian & Jew unity?

I watched with interest on CNN last night a feature called, "God's Warriors." Considering Christianity is "closest" to the Jewish faith, is it OK to stand by them and fight for their holy land? Or is it absurd for the Jews to accept support from a religion that largely blames the Jews for the death of Christ?

Also, has anyone considered who is "entitled" to the spot of prayer (where the Jews say they wish to rebuild their temple)? Muslims or Jews? I listened to a Muslim man claim Jews had no historical claim to the holy land/place of prayer, but the Jews were there before Christians came onto the scene, and Islam came after Christianity.

What are your thoughts on this eternal holy war? Are there any Jews here who are willing to share their thoughts and concerns?

Maybe I need to see the show that you were referring to. What exactly do you mean by "fighting for the Holy Land"? Are you referring to Jerusalem?

As for "fighting"? Don't you think that is what got us in trouble to start with in the Middle East? Seriously, there is no end in sight with our involvement in Iraq and you think we should "take up the cross" and "fight Muslims", when American Christian's status with them are already shaky at best?

In my opinion, if everyone wants eventual peace, then we need to talk about these things without the fighting. When you break all this religious stupidity down between the Christians, Jews, and Muslims, I come up with one thing. We are all human and until each group realizes this, there will never be any peace.

Tonight at 9 Eastern Time on CNN "God's Warriors" explores the Muslim faith and their impacts in politics. Tomorrow it's about Christians. Highly recommend watching this tonight.

A word of caution...be careful when watching these shows as they can tend to be slanted and biased in their presentation. Just perhaps see if it matches what you know about the given religion...or ask someone if you have questions.

Second, I support the Jews, we really are "brothers" as it were.

Who put Christ on the cross? We all did...with our sin. The Jews were only the earthly accusers, but Christ went willingly to the cross when he could have called 12 legions of angels to help him. I would never say the Jews put him there because He died for the sins of the world not just the sins of the Jew.

this isn't just religious quarreling, it's also political.

Yes, the Jewish people lived in that area before Islam, but the country was mostly a country of various tribes, and not all of them worshiped the same as the Jews. It has been only since WWII that Israel became the country that it is today. It was controversial then when it was formed, just as it is now.

It's difficult to separate religion and politics. Anything to aid Israel from a religious viewpoint will likely be seen as meddling in the political structure of the area. Very touchy situation with the other Arabs. If we interfere, then we give them (Iran, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, etc. etc.) the right to interfere also.

Amazingly the woman doing this three-part feature is unbiased in the entire series. She gives only facts, most of which come from those following the religions. I'm happy to know most Muslims view people like Osama as a mass murderer, worthy of death and not a "holy" position.

That said, the Muslim takeover in the world (it is happening gradually), reminds me of the period when Christianity converted the Pagans. Our societies ("the west") are said to be the same thing the Pagan's were before their eventual "fall:" materialistic, sexual deviants, no regard for another. Actually, I was quite proud when one of the Muslim radicals compared American's to Greek's. Kind of makes me want to go out and flash my goodies. hahaha.

People that believe in Judaism do no recognize people that are Christians as brothers. What I have learned is that Christians consider Jews as brothers because both have the first part of the bible. It is also a way to promote Zionist state of Israel. But Christians support Zionism and to some orthodox Jews do not believe in a Zionist state of Israel. They believe that G-d is supposed to bring back the Jewish people to that area. But man has forced the issue to put the Jewish state in power. You may hear a lot about Zionist being tied to Judaism. But Zionist are not people that usually practice Judaism it is more about the political part of Israel. There are some ties with the Nazi and Zionist during ww2.I am still learning more about the history of the state of Israel. So if any one else has more info please post.

My personal view is that God gave the land to Israel and it belongs to them. That being said I realize that millions of Muslims wholeheartedly disagree with that and they have lived in that land for a long long time. So it’s unrealistic to think they will just hand over the land to Israel with out a fight. And even if they left where would all those millions of people go? That place has become their home too. They have homes, jobs, land and have built lives there. So seeing them leave just seems unrealistic.

I don’t see a peaceful way out of this mess right now. Both sides seem determined to stand their ground. The hope that they would just split the land down the middle just seems like wishful thinking. But I don’t see politics as the answer…politics is what started this mess in the first place. So my trust is with Jesus. For me God is the answer. I pray for a peaceful resolution to the problems in the Middle East.

The bible predicts that God’s temple WILL be rebuilt in the holy land. How that happens I don’t know. But I do remember a while back some people tried to lay a foundation stone for the new temple and it caused all kinds of controversy. And right now in Israel people are studying how to make the priest clothes, they are studying how the temple was decorated, where the Holy of Holies was …so that when the temple is rebuilt they can be prepared. So the Jews fully intend to see God’s temple rebuilt.
