I had written you a much longer response but some sort of magic keyboard shortcut accidentally erased it so I think I'll cut my losses and stick with this quick reply.

It seems to be a matter of semantics. If you're gay, you're gay. If you're not, you're not. And you cannot judge that on the basis of how people use the word "attractive" or "attracted."

I've already been through this battle on another forum and it was absurd, nobody changed their opinions, and I suspect the same outcome here. We're all going to leave this thread thinking and feeling exactly as we did when we first clicked on it. Why do we even bother?
No harm no foul.. I do see what you are saying. My point (although not clearly stated) was that if he finds men attractive maybe there is something there and to not feel bad about it..

no harm no foul

Default Emotionally crippled

Being emotionally crippled may lead to non-heterosexual experiences in an effort to fill a void. Your thoughts.

I'm sorry, but you know who you remind me of? Linda Richmond from "Coffee Talk" on Saturday Night Live... "I'll give you a topic - the 7-day war was neither 7 days nor a war. Talk amongst yourselves."

Now to answer your question, I think that could be true about some gay people, but certainly not all of them. Especially considering how many "emotionally crippled" straight people I know... why didn't they become gay as a result?

That's a good one! I've thought that myself. I guess I'm just try to be considerate of people when I post only b/c some topics are hot-button issues. I'll take her.

attraction is an illusive word. i found allen greenspan very attractive, a mental giant but that does not make me gay that makes me an economics major.

I'm a woman, and I've had girlfriends I sort of had a crush on because there's chemistry and fun, but that's different from wanting to have sex with them. I can assume that males can have great close friendships like this too.
From my experience as a wife x 2, and mother and grandmother of boys, if you even remotely want to have sex with another man you are gay, so please don't try to date my daughter and pretend otherwise.

Maybe we need to define "attracted".

I have been "attracted" to different men for different reasons. Have not been physically "attracted", meaning that I have not been sexually aroused by men.

Now a man who looked like a women, might fool me.
And I dont' mean Artie Donovan in drag.

How about this - I can look at Catherine Zeta-Jones, and think, "Wow, she's really beautiful." Which she is, of course! Does that mean I have any attraction for her? No, not at all.

Johnny Depp, on the other hand...

And I also think it's possible to be attracted mentally to someone, and not physically attracted. In fact, what a mess the world would be in if physical attraction was the automatic result of mental attraction!

I understand your point. Your point is also a pagan point of view. Did you know that? Biblically speaking (b/c this is a Christian-based forum), Gay is an action. It is not an emotion. It is not a desire. It is not a perspective. So my question is who do you choose? Are you choosing to follow society's definition of "Gay", or are you going to choose Christ's definition?
