You have to look at this in the proper context. There was quite a bit of history behind this event. God had been promising Abraham that he would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky. The only problem was that Sarah was barren. Finally, in her old age, Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac. This was the son God had promised. Then, God says to offer him as a sacrifice. For Abraham to honor this command meant that he fully trusted God to honor his promise to give Abraham more descendents. You can look at this however you like, but when the rubber meats the road, you have to realize that God did not allow the sacrifice to take place. He intervened once he knew that Abraham intended to obey. Then God provided another sacrifice, so that Isaac could live.

You see a God who orders a murder.

I see a God who is loving and provides a way where there seems to be no way.

Of course, I'm sure Isaac was all ok with this and understood everything as well. Never mind the mental damage it could have done to the child. Or did god erase that?

Well, they did have to call the police to my grandfather. God told him to go kill the minister. And grandpa went with his knife and actually tried to get to the man. Of course, grandpa had some sort of dementia. I would assume that if I heard God telling me to kill someone, I would probably be crazy too.

Why would God need someone to kill for him? I would think He would be able to do that for himself.

So, is god too busy to kill Osama Bin Laden himself?

This administration hasn't been able to manage it, so if W is so tight with the guy upstairs... why is it Bin Laden has lived such a long, long life?

What if god commanded you to kill your first born?

What if god commanded you to kill your neighbor, to punish him for his wickedness?

If you knew of someone who's ideas were so dangerous, that it would drive thousands of souls away from god - would you be morally right in killing them?

Would you sacrifice your own immortal soul to save the soul of others?
My answer to all of your questions is NO..God does not require me to kill to prove my love for Him..He does not test me. The only thing God asks of me is to believe in Him and His Son, and to understand the sacrifice made so that my sins can be forgiven, and live a faithful and worthy life that may draw others to Him.

So, if you could save 1000 souls by irrevocably tainting your own soul... you wouldn't do it?

What is one eternity in hell compared to a thousand souls guaranteed an eternity of bliss in heaven?

Like the Japanese samurai, I only kill when it is right to kill.
Since I am a pacifist I imagine it will only be in self-defence.
Neither would I kill Hitler if he was a baby, I do not believe in predetermined destinies.

Since you cannot control others and can only control yourself, you cannot save other souls.
You can only not damn yourself or your own soul (=conscience).

This is an interesting answer because if God is really all-knowing, all-seeing, etc., then he would have already known whether Abraham was an obedient man or not. He wouldn't have to test him.

Exactly.

God can only save souls. We can draw souls to Him, by following God. God will never require us to lose our salvation to draw souls to Him.
