1) it's just a job; I'm not in charge here
2) they're going to die anyway
3) gotta feed my family. they're more important then dumb animals
4) how am I going to pay off my gambling debt if I don't stuff these dumb animals in the truck?
Are these the reasons, are there others?
How do they reconcile it with their consciences, since they say they're Christians?
How do non christians go ahead and think they'll skate on this one?
Thank you for answers

Just because 90% of the U.S. claims Christianity does not mean that they are actually living a Christian life.

In sense this is all torture. It is an unhealthy relationship for the pet or farm animal.
They do not act naturally anymore.
Then again, neither do we humans
I do not believe humans are animals. In the genesis account, God created the animals (fish, birds, cattle, etc.) prior to creating man. He created man in His own image to have dominion over the animals.

Well there we have the answer!! So now what is your question??[/quote]

Yes, but we can have dominion without abusing them. We should respect them as living beings. Don't get me wrong, I love a good hamburger as much as the next person. But I do not agree with mistreating animals needlessly.

In medieval times the whites thought that the blacks looked more like apes than humans, so they viewed them as subhuman. How can God be black if the Christians are white, right?
Sounds like sound (rascist) logic to me.

Anywayz, the fact that man resembles God does not give him the excuse to act like God, but most Christians forget this fact.

Ah yes, the racism card.
If you are Christian you cannot be a racist and a racist cannot be a Christian.

It's like saying: if you are a man you cannot be a homosexual.
Therefore homosexual men do not exist.
This might have worked for the previous centuries, but not anymore.

I would like to suggest that others read the book, The Pig Who Sang to the Moon, about the emotional life of farm animals.

I believe it is wrong to kill animals for our food when done in a way that causes an animal to suffer needlessly. In some countries it has been hard to come by food unless it is killed, and so I realize that it has to be done. Also, some people can't be vegetarians because it isn't good for them. The Dalai Lama is one of those persons whose doctor told him to eat animal protein, but he is alittle more careful as to what he eats now that he knows the cruelty that goes on in large farm co-ops.

But do I feel it is a sin? I don't think in terms of sin; but I do think in terms of wrong and right, and whenever we bring harm to another person I feel it is wrong, and that would include harming animals and the environment.

But the reason issues here are, What are we all going to do about it?
