I think you have this forum confused with the Religious& Philosophy forum;
I was using a little sarcastic humor when I provided " excuses" for abusing animals used for food.
I often do " tongue in cheek ". It's better then blowing a blood vessel.

Yes, but we can have dominion without abusing them. We should respect them as living beings. Don't get me wrong, I love a good hamburger as much as the next person. But I do not agree with mistreating animals needlessly.[/quote]

I guess what I was bringing to the forefront, was not that animal abuse is wrong, but why does society look the other way when it happens all the time?
I did have this in the Christian forum, which I feel where it belongs, but the mod feels otherwise.
So....look, I like a good steak, I eat turkey and chicken...but I try to buy in the supermarket products that have at least made an attempt at ( if you will ) humane treatment of animals. Such as " free range eggs "
I am not against eating meat. What I am against is abuse to animals until they are killed. (Slaughtered sounds rough and may make some defensive)
I don't see a problem bringing this up and I do know it is touchy as people get emotional thinking about that steak they're eating and what the beefer went thru.

Default sin?

it is not whether it is a "sin", it is whether it is "right" or "wrong"
ask yourself- do animals feel? if you answer "yes," then the answer is obvious

Because looking away and pretending nothing is wrong, is the easiest thing to do in life.
Most people find it a 'waste' of their time to find out how things really are working.
I blame it on lazy-thinking; not questioning anything.
