Default Does Age Affect Belief?

I wonder if a person's age affects whether they believe in God or not?
I suspect that the older a person gets, the more inclined they are to have a belief in God.
I also suspect that most atheists or non-believers on this forum are generally younger than the group that are believers.

Thanks for voting.

I guess in a sense it does but only becasue the longer you live the more time you have to ponder your experiences and make your own decisions. So there is some correlation but not causation.

Also where is the "I'm in my 30's and I believe"?

THe older I've gotten, the less religious I've gotten. This is true for most of the nonbelievers I know. My father and father-in-law are atheists and their age and experience only tends to confirm to them that there is no god.

I have heard that you are statistically more likely to accept Christ before you are 20 years old than after that.

As for me personally, I am old as dirt now but I accepted Christ as a child of about 11 and my mother said I expressed interest in God even as a 2 year old. (My parents were not atheists but they were not religious.)

Of course, as a culture, maybe religion is being preached and advocated less than 30 or 40 years ago. So that might stand to reason that there are more older believers now than younger ones, I don't know.

I disagree. In general, people become more skeptical as they age.

There are two types of people that are influenced by getting older. One, afraid of dying and the unknown, will seek out some way of making sure that all will be well.

The other, will get more skeptical as their life experiences show them more and more that if there is a God, salvation, eternal life, eternal hell, etc, it sure is a blotched up world. Too many ifs and whatevers. Death, for these people, is not something to fret about.

I thought you said he politely declined (in a long-ago post).
